Community rules
Future Commons is a public space for thoughtful predictions, unresolved questions, careful experiments, and ideas worth returning to. A few simple commitments keep the signal high and the certainty honest.
The spirit
Be curious. Be specific. Be honest about uncertainty. Disagree with ideas, not people.
The rules
- Be curious. Ask what is still unsettled, and read to learn rather than to win. Good questions are worth more than quick answers.
- Be specific. Say what you think and what you base it on. Give enough context for others to check, challenge, and build on your idea.
- Be honest about uncertainty. Mark guesses as guesses, label predictions clearly, and update your view when the evidence changes. Certainty should be earned, not assumed.
- Disagree with ideas, not people. Challenge reasoning directly and respectfully. Leave identity, motive, and background out of it.
- No harassment, spam, or manipulation. No attacks, no spam, no plagiarism, no privacy violations, and no deliberate manipulation of the conversation.
- Keep it worth returning to. Prefer substance over volume. An unfinished idea, honestly labelled, is more useful here than a polished claim with nothing behind it.
The categories
Community posts live in six areas: Prediction, Questions, Showcase, Lounge, Introductions, and Gaming. Members can also propose new sub-boards, and approved ones join the list.
Some things have no place here: politics and sensitive topics, harassment, spam, plagiarism, privacy violations, and deliberate manipulation are always off limits. Articles and posts are checked automatically against these red lines.
What happens when a rule is broken
Posts and comments that break these rules may be removed. Repeat or serious violations may lead to an account being restricted or removed from the community. If you see something that breaks the rules, use the report link or send feedback — the community stays useful only if we all help keep it clean.
